Welcome to the website of the beekeeping business Šercelj.

We are a family beekeeping business with long tradition, which we are really proud of. Its solid foundations have been laid by grandfather Ivan who placed his first apiary in front of his house in the village of Sela. He started a beekeeping business with ten bee families in the traditional Slovenian AZ hives.

Today his apiary is still in use although LR hives around it have been our main interest in the last years.In 2010 we made a transport unit for the transportation of LR hives. It was successfully tested for the fir pasture in the woods of Kočevski Rog. In 2011 the transport of 3-frame Slovenian AZ hive was tested for the first time. The excellent

results have led to the growing number of hives over the last years. In 2012 we started using the first container with its 64 3-frame AZ hives and a modern transport
vehicle for its transportation. Today there are 170 bee families in our beekeeping business. Bees represent our pride and duty at

the same time. Their number is about to grow in years to come. Our future goals are to provide our customers with high-quality honey products and its quality use.

With the use of modern technology and new ways of transportation in beekeeping, we want to offer our costumers a wide range of honey and other honey treats.

Amongst our products we are surely most proud of the forest honey, especially honeydew honey. The surrounding area of Dolenjske Toplice is known as the lowest site of fir in Slovenia. Honey from these woods has received many awards in the category of forest and fir honey and is therefore respected among buyers and beekeepers.
